“Assuming I survive our hunt for the Horcruxes, I’ll find Mum and Dad and lift the enchantment. If I don’t – well, I think I’ve cast a good enough charm to keep them safe and happy. Wendell and Monica Wilkins don’t know that they’ve got a daughter, you see.”
Okay, yes, as everyone knows, I’m a Harry/Hermione shipper, but I’m almost more in love with their friendship than any sort of relationship they might have had. And that’s why I absolutely adore this scene. Not because of the shippy undertones, but because of the pure love of two friends trying to make it through some hard times. This scene? Spectacular. Beautiful. Stunning. All of the emotion running through it just screams, “I’M HERE FOR YOU. I know times are hard, but we have each other and we’ll get through this.” I know this particular scene wasn’t in the book, but it’s kind of a culmination of the Harry/Hermione relationship, isn’t it? When everyone left, these two were there for each other. They got each other through some of the worst moments of their lives. The same, of course, can be said of the Harry/Ron friendship (or maybe even the Hermione/Ron friendship) during other moments of the series, but not as strong as the Harry/Hermione friendship. The trio as a whole, obviously, is the strongest bond, but I will always absolutely adore the Harry/Hermione relationship.
YES. I mean as cute as this was, this was Harry trying to make Hermione feel better in the worst of times, let her know that he was there for her like he always did in the past books/movies.
“It is a curious thing, Harry, but perhaps those who are best suited to power are those who have never sought it. Those who, like you, have leadership thrust upon them, and take up the mantle because they must, and find to their own surprise that they wear it well.”
